Lab Manager
Job Description RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Coordinate all activities in the geotechnical laboratory. Hire and direct the training of Laboratory Geotechnicians. Implement and enforce safety procedures and company policies. 2. Make sure the laboratory runs smoothly and efficiently. Monitor activities to assure schedules are met. 3. Assist business development efforts and marketing of geotechnical laboratory services. PRIMARY DUTIES: 1. Supervise and schedule testing in the laboratory. 2. Perform laboratory tests, when needed. 3. Review all laboratory test results. 4. Readily recognize and correct laboratory testing errors. 5. Write reports of test results and submit results to clients in a timely manner, or notify person requesting testing when work has been completed. 6. Maintain all laboratory equipment. 7. Review new test procedures and coordinate startup of new testing when required. 8. Log in all samples delivered to the laboratory for testing and maintain a record of where all samples are temporarily stored. 9. Participate in training development and performance evaluations of Laboratory Geotechnicians. 10. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Requirements Must Haves:  - A minimum of an Associates Degree, with experience in laboratory soil testing.  - One year experience as a Field Geotechnician I, or equivalent.  - Thorough knowledge of and the ability to conduct all current laboratory tests (ASTM, AASHTO, Corps of Engineers, ODOT, etc.)  - Certified NICET Level II in applicable subject areas.
