LAB MGR

Job Purpose:

The position is an experienced laboratory manager with excellent understanding of high-pressure hydraulic testing for product qualification, electronic component testing and laboratory equipment operations. The candidate will report to the Site Director. We are seeking a candidate who possesses a strong background in high pressure testing and can demonstrate proficiency in a variety of analytical techniques. Observe and maintain safety requirements. Supervise, manage, and motivate the laboratory team members daily. Focal contact point for the lab for all team members, including upper management regarding projects, HSE, budget, compliance, etc.

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

QUALITY 

Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System  Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement Responsible for ensuring quality at the lab for all projects and processes.

OPERATIONS 

Contribute to product test & qualification, analysis of results, and supervise all activities at the lab. Maintain testing schedule for the lab assets, tracking utilization of assets, and ensuring the documentation of maintenance performed on test assets and equipment. Responsible to ensuring appropriate cost allocation of tests to the respective teams. Assists in training of non-professionals, especially in their area of experience. Within limits, consults with, and advises people requiring help with specific laboratory technical problems and procedures. Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintain high quality occupational health, safety, & working environment based on HSE rules and regulations. Perform general laboratory maintenance to ensure that the laboratory is in full compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations, and procedures. Assures the work quantity and quality by requiring strict adherence to methods and procedures. Handles and disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols. Maintains and organizes laboratory supplies. Monitors inventory levels and orders or secures supplies as needed. Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor.

COMMUNICATION 

Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports

FINANCIAL 

Responsible for the budget for the lab including lab expenses and project direct expenses.   All employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure

PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT 

Responsible for training & development of all employees at the lab. Employees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance & business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experience Employees should engage on a regular basis with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential Supervisors are expected to actively engaging their employees to support talent management through Weatherford’s performance management process, including but not limited to talent assessments, succession planning & regular coaching opportunities Supervisors should collaborate with Human Resources & Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment & retention of key personal & to foster an environment that supports the attraction & retention of a high performing talented workforce

Required Skills:

Minimum Bachelors Degree with 10-12 years of operations / industrial laboratory work experience 3-5 years of experience in supervision of Test lab, High-pressure testing, excellent HSE awareness and understanding of accounts & finance (tracking utilization of assets) Experience in managing Technician, Engineers, supervisors, compliance, routine maintenance, managing budget for a lab Experience operating material handling equipment (Forklift, Overhead Hoist, etc.). Experience using hand tools (Pipe Wrench, Adjustable Wrench, Screwdriver, Measuring Tape, etc.). 5+ years in a leadership role managing people and lab operations. Experience with Down-hole oilfield tools (assembly/testing/troubleshooting) Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly, and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined. Must have ability to make professionally effective presentations, both oral and written. Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses. Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette. Ability to physically respond to emergency situations. Ability to read and comprehend drawings/prints and tool layouts. Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in scheduling and time management

PREFERRED

Knowledge of electronic component testing and qualification. Knowledge of metallic & non-metallic material testing and qualification. Knowledge of API / ISO standards Understanding of qualification processes for electronic components / PCB / electronic tools

This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to:  <10%
