POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab Operations Coordinator will report to the Operations Manager. Their role supports Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology labs and users for ongoing daily activities. Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness. They coordinate the lab inventory management, maintain supplies, lab ware, instrument services such as calibrations and preventative maintenance, and routine core services to support day-to-day lab operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Perform inventory management including ordering, stocking, and tracking inventory stock/ backstock across Calibr-Skaggs which includes reagents, consumables, packing supplies, first aid items, etc. Adjust inventory min/max order points according to demand. Proactively identify, procure, and communicate compatible alternative part numbers with departments for backordered items to avoid stock outs. Input requisitions using company ERP and follow up with vendors with POs to ensure service progress. Fill ethanol and DIH2O stations across Calibr-Skaggs labs weekly or as needed. Perform freezer maintenance which includes daily temperature monitoring, ice chipping for -80C and -20C freezers, and freezer defrosting as needed while coordinating with lab personnel. Wash and sterilize lab ware using an autoclave and dishwasher twice a week or as needed. Clean and sterilize lab water baths, and bead baths monthly or as needed. Perform incubator maintenance which includes refilling and sterilizing water trays, decontaminations, replacing HEPA filters and UV lights, and refill internal water jackets if applicable on a monthly or as needed basis. Assist with receiving phone calls for deliveries, and providing signatures for packages as needed. Perform daily shipping and receiving of packages (domestic and international), including weekly CRO shipments while reporting updates to lab personnel. Receipt reconciliation for packages received. Data entry utilizing asset management software, E-maintenance, update all equipment related services (i.e., calibrations, preventative maintenance, equipment location, disposals, new equipment, etc.) Coordinate equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance in accordance with department needs. Provide initial response for in-house laboratory inquiries and ensure requests are being handled accordingly. Proactive communication with end users on scheduled maintenance, status updates, and issues that may impact lab use. Promote and adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for the lab and its users as set forth by E&HS. Escort vendors onsite for services needed. Assist with lab notebook distribution and updating notebook tracker while communicating with Operations Associate. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Requires laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained. Laboratory management experience is preferred. Inventory management experience is required. Highly organized and detail oriented. Time management Ability to perform routine tasks with accuracy. Ability to work independently and provide routine updates on duty status. Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word skills preferred. Previous experience in a customer service position is preferred. May include stationary position for an extended period of time, lifting up to or more of 50lbs, traverse campus/facility as needed, operate machinery such as computer, phone, copy machine, water boilers, autoclave, dishwasher sterilizer, exposure to cold or hot temperatures. Ability to work in biological and chemistry laboratories with proper PPE.
COMPENSATON
The expected hiring range for this position is $21.00 to $25.20 hourly, commensurate with experience.
