About the unit
The Lab Central department is the pre analytical area of the Core Regional Laboratory at Corewell Health West. Lab Path Assist are responsible for the intake of all inpatient and outpatient specimens.
About the hospital
Corewell Health Regional Laboratory serves many types of patients and providers. The lab is located on the Butterworth campus and serves inpatients from Butterworth (including Level 1 Trauma Center), Meijer Heart Center, and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. It also serves many outpatient draw sites and offices, along with medical examiner cases across several counties in Michigan.
Scope of work
Maintains accurate specimen stability at all times. Receives all specimen to maintain a tracking of each specimen. Utilizes a centrifuge to separate blood/ urine samples and pour over in correct container type for processing. Delivers specimens to the correct testing area. Assist in loading specimens on to analyzers for testing. Provides exceptional experience to all customers via inbound and outbound phone calls, chats and emails. Ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulation, accreditation and compliance requirement, and organizational policy.
Qualifications
· High school Diploma or equivalent required
