Technicianto become part of the Ulbrich Precision Alloys team located in New Bedford, MA.Ulbrich Precision Alloys is a global producer of high-performance materials and solutions for a variety of markets. We partner with our customers to deliver extraordinary materials that enable our customers to reach new heights with their demanding applications.The Lab/Q.C. Technician will be responsible for conducting diversified performance tests on a wide variety of metals and alloys to determine physical properties and verify that properties meet or exceed the customer application requirements and specifications. They will also be responsible for ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded by following defined Quality Assurance operational instructions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are not all encompassing. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned consistent with business requirements.)Perform microscopic examinations of metals and alloys to determine grain structure.Perform designated pre-process, in-process or final sample, metal tests using equipment or procedures to determine tensile strength, hardness and other physical properties.Verify finished product conforms to customer requirements.Identify and record all nonconforming product problems and initiate or recommend solutions to Manager. Initiate shut down of in-process work, if necessary due to issues of material nonconformance.Train and provide guidance to operators in the proper use of gauging methods and requirements.Perform process capabilities studies and gauge R & Rs.Conduct internal supplier audits. Ensures inspection and testing requirements are completed in accordance with procedures and instructions.Responsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Companys Quality System as pertains to this position.Responsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Companys Quality System as pertains to this position.QualificationsHigh School Graduate or the equivalent combination of education and experience plus a minimum of 3 years previous work experience in wire, metals and/or quality industry.Working knowledge of various material alloy types including but not limited to stainless steel, special metals, cobalt based alloys. High temperature alloys, titanium-based alloys and nickel-based alloys.Ability to read and interpret product specifications.Knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as Statistical Process Control, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or 5S.Working knowledge of personal computers, the use and application of the Microsoft Office software suite.Ability to convert from SI to metric.Prior professional experience in an ISO 9001 certified operations, knowledge of AS9100D standards preferred.Additional InformationThis position offers competitive salary and benefits and the opportunity to expand your skills within a company that offers both a diverse workforce and a welcoming company culture.
