Job Description

The Lab Sample Processor provides clients with outstanding service by performing timely and accurate sample processing. Processors are responsible for opening samples, comparing information, addressing concerns, solving problems, and entering client data correctly into the Laboratory Information System to ensure that every case is successfully completed.  Lab Sample Processors must have excellent data entry skills, be detail oriented, and organized.  This role is multi-tasked and flexible and having the ability to prioritize work is essential. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Intake of packages received dailyVerifies package integrity and chain of custody requirementsData Entry / Audit of all patient and contract information into the computer systemHandling case assignments, review case progress, and determine case closureIdentifies complete and partial casesClose and mailing of final reports, chain of custody, and affidavitsInput partial billing informationCoordinating and providing service that is timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client-centeredMeet weekly required production numbersPrepare AffidavitsNotarization (limited)Attend and participate in staff meetingsOther duties as assigned or become evident

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Minimum one (1) year previous data entry experience preferredHigh School diploma/GED requiredHigh degree of accuracy and strong attention to detailCollaborate and work effectively with othersExcellent data entry and organizational skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritize workloadExcellent verbal and written communication skillsComputer literacy in Microsoft Office and typing skills are requiredGood problem-solving skills and follow through are requiredStrong planning, organizational, time, and project management skills are requiredKnowledge of good record keeping requirements is a plusSelf-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision; must also be able to work as part of a team.Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing prioritiesAbility to demonstrate and uphold the highest levels of ethical behavior and confidentiality

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Communicating with others to exchange information.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.Manual dexterity to handle, label, and file samples and paperwork.Standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling to accomplish tasks and transport samples from accessioning area to Laboratory.
