**Description:**

**GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:**
Manages, coordinates, and supervises the activities of a support section of the clinical laboratory.
**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** :
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or equivalent education preferred. 2 years of experience working in a physician’s office or hospital setting required.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** :
Accurately assigns appropriate billing and ICD-9 / ICD-10 codes to reports and orders. Effectively prioritizes work to maintain maximum efficiency.
Plans, prepares, and coordinates work schedules to provide adequate coverage and efficient use of staff. Ensures that department meets all regulatory requirements. Provides for employee training and development. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff. Strong anatomy, medical terminology and grammatical skills. Medical terminology. Communication and management skills preferred. CPT coding experiences preferred.
Specifically, some functions include:
**Daily**
Non-gyn cytologies (gross, charges, clinical hx, cell blocks, scanning). Proofing all content, format, charges on cases for Pathologists. Revenue work queues in Epic that include billing. Send tissue/slides to consultants and reference labs with appropriate forms and reports.
**Weekly**
Sign-off on Cytology Maintenance log(s). Lab/AP Cybersecurity meetings (every other week). Lead Lab Leadership weekly meeting. Monitor HealthStream and CAP education tasks due for department.
**Monthly**
Outside Review QA Report. Order supplies (give list to Greg)
AP Expert Panel monthly meeting. AP Department meeting. SARMC/TVL meeting management. Monthly Colleague meeting attendance. Provides presentations on occasion.
**As needed**
Autopsy Effectiveness QA and Abnormal Pap reminder report/letters
