Lab Support Supervisor
**Job Description:** This position provides support to the Lab Supervisor or Manager regarding the day-to-day activities of personnel within an assigned area of the lab. The position supervises Phlebotomists and/or Clinical Lab Assistants and implements comprehensive quality programs in compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulations of certifying, licensing, and accrediting agencies. Job Essentials 1. Acts as a liaison between customers and the laboratory in handling problems or special situations that may arise. 2. Assists in the human resource management of the department including: hiring, performance reviews, staff development / education, retention, scheduling, payroll, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations. 3. Responsible for documenting and maintaining staff competency information and providing necessary training. Provides or oversees orientation of new staff members. 4. Provides input for budget (capital and operational) and has responsibility to stay within budget by monitoring department expenses. 5. Resolves technical problems and ensures corrective action is taken. 6. Assists with quality assurance program for area of accountability. 7. Maintains bench competency and skills. 8. May participate in specialized projects, such as investigational studies. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma/GED in compliance with CLIA regulations. One year experience performing moderately complex testing. - and - Demonstrated intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, and laboratory systems skills. - and - Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills both verbal and written. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science. Certified as Clinical Lab Assistant. Six months supervisory experience. - and - Experience in developing, leading, and implementing department initiatives. - and - Experience with laboratory regulatory agencies. **Physical Requirements:** Interact with others requiring the employee to verbally communicate information. - and - Operate computers and complex and delicate lab equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. - and - See and read lab equipment, monitors, and documents. - and - Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment. **Location:** Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital **Work City:** Provo **Work State:** Utah **Scheduled Weekly Hours:** 40 The hourly range for this position is listed below.
