JOB SUMMARY

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

\n\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\n\n\tConducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.\n\tSorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.\n\tOperates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.\n\tMaintains appropriate inventory of supplies.\n\tMaintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.\n\tParticipates in laboratory projects and educational activities.\n\n\n

\n\n\n\tPhlebotomy skill for all age groups.\n\tAbility to comprehend and communicate instructions.\n\tSkill in the use of computers and related software applications.\n\tKnowledge of safety and infection control standards.\n\tAbility to work in a team environment.\n\n\n

\n\n\n\tEDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent\n\tEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\n
