Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Reports to: Technology Director
General Description of the Job:
The Technician is responsible for:
Maintaining independence of laboratory processesMaintaining laboratory equipment and suppliesBeing the primary operator of the bench reactor systemMaintaining laboratory equipment and supplies related to the reactor systemWorking the DT to develop new or upgrade existing protocols for catalyst testingMaintaining to robust operation of the catalyst aging oven(s)Maintaining production sampling protocolsAnalyzing production samples following specified proceduresAnalyzing samples submitted for engineering or production purposesLabeling and organizing laboratory samples to ensure data integrityReporting interpretations of resultsDeveloping and validating analytical methods using statistics and designed experimentsMaintaining and troubleshooting of instrumentsOther miscellaneous duties as assignedIn addition, management system responsibilities and authorities include:
Safety Management System requirements;
maintaining the Chemical Hygiene Planenforcing laboratory safety rules for visitors to the laboratory
Quality Management System requirements;
controlling laboratory samplescontrolling laboratory data including results and quality reportsEnvironmental System requirements;
ensuring environmental policies and procedures are followedensuring wastes used in analysis are handled properlyBasic Skills and Competencies:
The Analytical / SGB laboratory Technician must;
Have an understanding of basic mathematical, computer skills, chemistry, instrumentation, statistics, experimental design, and good laboratory practicesPossess the ability to ensure all analytical procedures are followed and required documentation is maintained, and provide basic training of colleagues on tools and protocolsPossess the requisite mechanical, electrical and programming skills to maintain effective operation of the SGB, including preventative maintenance, and to troubleshoot any issues affecting robust operation of the unit in case of any issuesCommunicate effectively with customers, suppliers, management, other employees and service providers (company employees and contracted suppliers), and other external contactsHave intimate knowledge and understanding of the company’s policies and proceduresJob Hazards and Safety Analysis:
