About the Role… As a Lab Support Technician, you will support 24-hour testing, taste panel, pesticide residue and heavy metal tests, and release of raw materials in a timely manner. You will support the daily operations of the quality lab and control of workflow to ensure operational efficiency with emphasis on results and continuous improvement. This role will also help improving laboratory SOP’s and conduct training as needed; as well as other duties as assigned. About the Team… The Quality Assurance Team is diverse in knowledge and experience and are responsible for ensuring that Beech-Nut’s products meet the highest standards for food safety and quality. This team takes pride in, and responsibility in partnering with our Strategic Sourcing, Operations and Technical Services Teams to ensure the ingredients sourced and processed have passed our testing standards and expectations. This is a hands-on, collaborative team that is energetic and passionate about making sure we continue to do what we do best - making high quality, safe, and nutritious foods for babies and toddlers! Through continuous safety and loss control, we can accomplish this. About the Work Environment… This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. Most job functions are performed in a well-lit, environmentally controlled office environment. The candidate will also be required to work in an environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection and lab coat. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks. What you will do… + Effectively planning and executing our finished product 24-hour preparation and testing, including taste panel + Preparing samples and ensuring timely testing at outside labs including microbiological samples and swabs + Supporting continuous improvement plans for the Beech-Nut laboratory including laboratory certifications and efficiency projects + Ensuring co-manufactured product sample testing and retention sample handling in orderly and efficient system + Effectively managing the rejected empty glass jar samples retrieval and data logging in a timely manner + Collaborating with receiving department to manage inbound sample receiving, logging and disposition tracking + Ensuring QMS compliance and food safety through organizational training and development, processes and procedures, auditing and continuous improvement. + Ensuring compliance with third party audits e.g., BRC, customer, etc. + Maintains Quality KPI’s across the organization + Additional responsibilities as assigned Who You Are… + Deciding and Initiating Action: You are able to make timely decisions while weighing risks.
