Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

• Operates and monitors production and seed fermenter growth

• Monitors seed flask growth

• Maintains daily records of all cultures and media

• Performs routine sterility checks according to batch record standards

• Uses laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pumps, and scales

• Harvests bacterial cultures

• Performs scale-up production of Leptospirae cultures

• Conducts in-process sampling at interval stages of growth production

• Performs weekly cleaning of the production rooms

• Performs pre and post process cleaning of labs

• Cleans and disinfects lab equipment

• Sterilizes fermentation equipment

• Prepares and sterilizes media for bacteria growth

• Assembles and sanitizes concentration systems

• Uses hollow fiber concentration systems

• Cleans and sanitizes concentration systems

• Uses other filtration systems

This is a fully on-site position in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Work Environment

The position requires punctual attendance from Monday to Friday, 6am - 2:30pm. The role involves working in a production lab environment within the Bacterins Department, reporting to a direct supervisor. The team includes 2 other employees, and cross-functional collaboration with other departments is expected. The dress code is casual, but sterile gowns/scrubs are provided and required. The lab can get warm (up to 80 degrees). Physical demands include lifting up to 35 pounds occasionally, pushing and pulling up to 80 pounds, and standing for extended periods.
