Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for performing basic microbiology tasks and techniques including adding sterile powder to sterile water, homogenizing samples, weighing samples aseptically, adding samples to sterile media, and repeating this 30-40 times. Duties also include washing hands, using the lab system to input data into the incubator (time, media used, water used, and lot number), making other media, calibrating scales, balancing, and checking weights.

This is a fully on-site position in Madison, Wisconsin.

Work Environment

Laboratory setting with proper temperature and lighting control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur. Must lift sample packages ranging from 10-50 pounds. Extended time spent standing. Requires wearing a mask, laboratory coat, and insulated gloves. This is a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive tasks. Team size is approximately 60 people.
