Lab Technician

Description

General purpose of job:

A typical day is going to start by helping the current laboratory team during the training period (depending on each person, would probably get this completed in 3-6 months). A typical day is going to be working on metal coatings and finishing's. There will be the daily tests that need to be ran and they are all dependent on what results are needed from their customers (tier 1 and OEMs). The types of testing and instruments that are involved are:

- Schatz Torque Testing Machine

- XFR

- HPLC

- UV-VIS

- Leica 3D Microscope

- ICP

- AA

- Both environmental salt chambers and Corrosion Chambers

All of these instruments are going to be in addition to the typical wet chemistry techniques that are needed to be know (pH, Visocisty, Titrations, etc.).

When each test result is found, the information is then recorded into Excel spreadsheets, which are then uploaded to their own cloud system. If someone has experience using a clous based information system, this is a plus. It is not expected that this individual will know the metal finishing's industry, and they are willing to train the right individual for this position.

• Follow industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples.

• Respect others and act professionally at all times.

• To provide technical support that sales representatives or technical service representatives are needing for themselves or for their customers.

• Be able to perform all the analysis procedures comfortably.

• Understand the function of all analysis equipment and be able to operate comfortably.

• Implement new tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives.

• Be creative and develop analytical methods that support sales and technical service personnel.

• Develop and validate test methods of raw materials using titrations, HPLC and IC.

• Always seek for better, efficient, accurate analysis methods for the existing analysis procedures.

• Maintain all the lab equipment in working condition and keep up with its maintenance/calibration schedule.

• Understand all the tasks involved in the lab to be able to support other lab members if it’s necessary.

• Find cost efficient suppliers for lab supplies.

• Other assigned technical service and related tasks by management.

• Contribute to bottom line results that require high levels of teamwork and planning, communication and implementation skills.

• You will support in maintaining the cleanliness of the chemical labs and pilot line.

• You will support the lab with customer projects and aiding them with setting up the testing procedures.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
