Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Microbiologist/Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role involves performing microbiological, chemical, and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process, and finished products, with a focus on yeast used in fermentations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency in testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and adhering to GMP policies.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and make media for sample plating.Conduct microbiological analysis of samples, including food pathogen testing for Salmonella and Listeria.Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.Use a Risograph to conduct activity tests on various types of dough using different types of yeast.Maintain equipment and general work area, including cleaning, calibration, and keeping records of maintenance.Calculate and record results accurately and in a timely manner.Ensure the processing area is stocked with necessary solutions prepared by the lab.Perform tests accurately and consistently, following established procedures.Prepare media required for microbiological testing.Complete monthly food contact swabs in the plant.Cross-check production department’s CIP solutions.Complete bi-annual proficiency tests.Essential SkillsMicrobiologyChemistryFood ScienceBiologyBiochemistryLab TechniquesMedia PreparationPathogen TestingHPLCGCAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Life Science (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry)Previous lab experience is a plusPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00
