Lab Technician
Job Title: Lab Technician/Research Specialist

Job Description: Are you passionate about working with animals and advancing scientific research? Join our dynamic team as a Lab Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in groundbreaking avian research. You'll work closely with chickens, contributing to animal husbandry and various laboratory processes. Your responsibilities will include processing SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures. Additionally, you'll produce vital antigens and reagents, prepare media, buffers, and solutions, document lab activities, pack and ship lab reagents, manage waste disposal, prepare glassware, and order supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with animal husbandry involving chickens, ensuring their well-being and optimal conditions.Process SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures with precision and care.Produce essential antigens and reagents, including viruses, mycoplasma, and microbial organisms.Prepare media, buffers, and solutions to support various research activities.Maintain meticulous lab documentation to ensure accurate records of all activities.Pack and ship lab reagents efficiently and safely.Manage waste disposal and prepare glassware for use, maintaining a clean and organized lab environment.Order necessary supplies to keep the lab running smoothly.

Essential Skills:

Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including pipetting, sterile technique, and centrifuge operation.Strong knowledge of biology, microbiology, and quality assurance/control.Expertise in sample preparation and collection, media preparation, reagent preparation, aseptic technique, and autoclave operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) in life science or related discipline preferred.

Work Environment: Join a collaborative and innovative laboratory environment. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. You'll need to talk, hear, sit, stand, and use your fingers and hands regularly. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
