Laboratory Assistant - Immunohistochemistry
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team. The main responsibilities include organizing blocks in numerical and alphabetical order, using a block melter, performing QA on blocks, picking up rush tissue cassettes, and loading them onto a tissue processor. Additional duties include running the xylene recycler, cleaning molds, picking up toolboxes, changing routine H&E stainers, pulling blocks for recuts, and occasionally helping to change tissue processors.
Responsibilities
+ Block filing-organize blocks in numerical, alphabetical, numerical order
+ Block Melting-use of block melter
+ Block QA-especially with Beaker Go Live-computer work
+ Pick up rush tissue cassettes and load onto tissue processor-instrumentation would be tissue processor/computer
+ Run the Xylene recycler-instrumentation would be xylene recycler
+ Clean the molds-mold cleaning unit
+ Pick up tool boxes
+ Pull blocks for recuts
Qualifications
+ MUST have a 4 year degree, preferably in a life science (B.S. in Biology, microbiology, virology, molecular genetics, pre med, etc.).
+ Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
+ Ability to follow SOPs and protocols.
Work Environment
Working with the immunohistochemistry (IHC) team in pathology laboratories. The work schedule is first shift.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00
