Support the R&D department, focusing on new product development (NPD), cost, quality, supply assurance, and operations support for Battery. Work within the R&D lab environment, testing new products, including chemicals and components. Perform tests on components/chemicals as per the test plan provided by R&D engineers. You will perform tests using GC/MS, calibrate GC instruments, conduct analytical tests, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) while conducting lab tests.
ResponsibilitiesPerform tests on components/chemicals as per the test plan provided by R&D engineers.Conduct GC/MS tests and calibrate GC instruments.Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) while conducting lab tests.Occasionally work with compressed air, nitrogen, and some aerosol products.Adequately follow safety requirements and policies.Conduct product quality checks by taking samples from production as per the sampling plan provided by R&D technical staff.Help ensure lab equipment and materials are organized.Assist with drafting of SOPs/JSAs.Perform data entry and update formulation information.Essential SkillsExperience working within a lab environment and running GC-MS.Complete understanding of GC-MS testing and how to calibrate instruments.Proficient with utilizing lab tools and equipment.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to follow SOPs efficiently.Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.Critical thinking skills.Initiative and follow-through.Quick learner.Proficient in using computers for data entry and preparing reports.Good communication skills.Maintain cross-functional contacts to get tasks done (QC, operations, facilities, EHS, shipping, and transportation).One to two years of college coursework in chemistry (or equivalent experience/education).Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree or pursuing a 4-year degree.Able to perform repetitive tasks requiring hands, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting up to 35 lbs.Will need to perform duties while using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.Work Environment
Work in the R&D department for the Battery division in an analytical lab. The start time is flexible between 7:30 and 8:30 am. Long periods of standing may be necessary. Must be comfortable working with fragranced products.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
