Job Description

Support the R&D department focused on New Product Development (NPD), cost, quality, supply assurance, and operations support for battery projects. Work within the R&D lab environment, testing new products, chemicals, and components.

Responsibilities

Perform tests on components/chemicals as per the test plan provided by R&D engineers.Conduct tests using GC/MS and calibrate GC instruments.Perform analytical tests and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) while conducting lab tests.Work occasionally with compressed air, nitrogen, and some aerosol products.Adequately follow safety requirements and policies.Conduct product quality checks by taking samples from production as per the sampling plan provided by R&D technical staff.Help ensure lab equipment and materials are organized and assist with drafting SOPs/JSAs.Perform data entry and update formulation information.

Essential Skills

Experience working within a lab environment and running GC-MS.Complete understanding of GC-MS testing and instrument calibration.Proficient in utilizing lab tools and equipment.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Proficient in following SOPs efficiently.Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.Critical thinking skills.Initiative and follow-through.Quick learning ability.Proficient in using computers for data entry and preparing reports.Good communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or pursuing a 4-year degree.One to two years of college coursework in Chemistry or equivalent experience/education.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications.Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring hands, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 35 lbs.Ability to perform duties while using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.Maintain cross-functional contacts to get tasks done (QC, operations, facilities, EHS, shipping, and transportation).

Work Environment

Work in the R&D department's analytical lab for battery projects. The start time is flexible between 7:30 and 8:30 am. Long periods of standing may be necessary. Must be comfortable working with fragranced products and have no severe allergies. Personal Protective Equipment must be used as required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
