Lab Technician
Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description

Perform routine physical lab tests on woven or non-woven finished fabrics or incoming chemicals and mixes. No wet chemistry will be involved, only physical property testing in a chemical nature. Tasks include testing fabric shrinkage, stretch, and durability under various conditions, as well as performing mathematical calculations related to these tests. Responsibilities also encompass computer data entry, record keeping, error recognition and correction, and understanding specifications, procedures, and testing methods.

ResponsibilitiesPerform routine physical lab tests on fabrics and chemicals.Conduct tests to determine fabric shrinkage, stretch, and durability.Perform mathematical calculations related to test results.Enter data into computer systems and maintain accurate records.Recognize and correct errors in testing and data entry.Understand and follow sampling procedures.Calculate test results and list them on appropriate forms.Use ruler/tape measure in inches, fractions of inches, centimeters, and millimeters.Calibrate equipment according to defined procedures.Assist in training new associates as needed.Essential SkillsExperience in QC testing, lab technology, biology, physical testing, chemistry, and quality inspection.Proficiency in measurement, quality control, textiles, calculations, and equipment calibrations.Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and titration.AS or BS degree in Chemistry or Textiles, or equivalent laboratory experience.Familiarity with textiles and their testing methods.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in an industrial laboratory with physical and chemical testing.Ability to work holidays, weekends, and after hours as needed.Flexibility to work during shutdown weeks and on callbacks.Work Environment

The work environment involves close proximity to colleagues. The position is on a 3rd shift schedule, from Sunday to Thursday, 11 PM to 7:30 AM. Flexibility is required due to increased workload from another plant and the need to run lines that haven't been operational in years. There may be opportunities for advancement to wet chem lab, analytical lab, and possibly R&D. The company offers great benefits and treats employees well, aiming to be a long-term career choice.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
