Job Description
We are seeking a Lab Technician for a 5-6 month contract role covering maternity leave. This position operates on the 2nd shift from 3pm to 11:30pm, or 3:30pm to 12am. The successful candidate will perform various testing and quality control tasks in a food manufacturing environment.
ResponsibilitiesPerform fat, salt, acid, pH, and viscosity testing.Test, monitor, and document quality results and processing data for products produced.Audit, verify, and follow up on process controls such as weight checks, batch sheets inspections, and receiving.Support process variations related to formula adjustments to meet customer requirements.Maintain effective communication with all operating departments.Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment.Ensure that all GMP, sanitation, and housekeeping practices are followed.Understand and apply the functionality of the Un-shippable Program.Utilize the AS400 computer system for necessary quality functions.Maintain and complete files and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related Science field.6+ months of lab testing experience (academic or work experience), OR 1+ years of food testing experience.High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with quality control and assurance.Knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures.Understanding of HACCP, SQF, and BRC standards.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Strong communication skills.Work Environment
This position is based in a food manufacturing plant that handles contract packaging for retail and food service accounts, producing mayonnaise, salad dressings, sauces, and syrups. The facility supports food service sales for the North Central region. Candidates will work from Monday to Friday, 1st shift (7am to 3:30pm), with hours based on production needs, typically ranging from 40 to 50 hours per week. There may be mandatory overtime on Saturdays and/or Sundays after the 3-month training period, which is based on seniority. The company culture is highly team-oriented, promoting strong collaboration across HR, operations, and quality departments. The dress code is business casual.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
