The HPTLC Lab Technician is responsible for a variety of critical duties to support the lab operations and testing for the Identity Department team. The technician identifies, analyzes, and suggests corrective actions to optimize laboratory operations, technology, and equipment. They handle sample inventory and assist the HPTLC team with sample preparation and other routine testing needs. The technician ensures high-quality standards are met by compliance with good housekeeping practices, GMPs, and regulatory compliance procedures. In addition to routine responsibilities, research and special projects will be assigned as relevant to department and company needs.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain good housekeeping practices to support HPTLC lab, including organizing reference standards and reference samples, and cleaning glassware/lab maintenance.
+ Prepare samples for identity testing to support HPTLC chemist prep stage.
+ Prepare solutions and mobile phases to support identity testing.
+ Execute assigned projects and activities in compliance with SOPs, GLP, cGMP, and FDA & DEA regulations and guidelines.
+ Maintain appropriate documentation of records and laboratory notebooks as required by SOPs and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
+ Execute and organize departmental purchasing of consumables and chemicals.
+ Perform other duties and projects as assigned, including general laboratory housekeeping and documentation.
Essential Skills
+ B.S. in Chemistry (Biochemistry is acceptable but not preferred).
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in a chemistry laboratory.
+ Demonstrated skills in bench chemistry such as operation of balances, pipettes, pH meter, volumetric transfers, etc.
+ Experience with FDA Code of Federal Regulations 21 and cGMP guidelines is preferred.
+ Demonstrated basic chemistry and math skills including the ability to independently execute quantitative calculations and analyze data.
+ Ability to consistently and repeatedly prepare volumetric solutions and test solutions.
+ Acute attention to detail and competency in checking work to Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Must read, write, and speak English at an advanced level.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, and botanical industries.
+ Minimum of 2 years of college-level study in chemistry, botany, or biology.
+ Industry-related experience is a plus.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Access is preferred.
Work Environment
The position operates Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with very occasional overtime (up to one hour per day). The lab performs third-party analytical testing for the nutraceutical industry. The technician will work within a regulated environment following strict FDA guidelines to ensure the integrity of chemical analysis performed on dietary supplements.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
