Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to develop operating procedures and perform tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations. This role involves conducting jar tests, bench and pilot scale evaluations, and various other laboratory tests. You will collect data, operate small-scale equipment, prepare samples, and maintain lab inventory and cleanliness.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop operating procedures for water and wastewater treatment operations.Perform jar tests to determine and optimize chemical dosing for various treatment approaches.Conduct bench and pilot scale evaluations.Carry out columns and batch testing for ion exchange resins, carbon adsorption, activated alumina, and other materials.Operate and maintain small-scale equipment such as pumps, heaters, and mixers.Prepare samples for testing and reagents for in-house lab analyses.Perform various laboratory analyses including DO, color, temperature, ORP, alkalinity, hardness, TSS, TDS, COD, TOC, turbidity, and phosphorus/phosphate.Pull samples for third-party laboratory analysis.Maintain reagents, lab inventory, and calibration records for lab equipment.Maintain SDS documentation for lab chemicals and reagents.Manage and communicate data effectively.Ensure cleanliness of lab equipment and operating areas.Essential SkillsBS in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related field.Proficiency with standard laboratory instruments such as pH meters, TSS probes, HACH spectrophotometer, analytical balances, and volumetric glassware.Ability to work precisely in solution making, with measuring devices, data handling, and instrument operation.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Strong communication skills to interact with team members and handle precise chemical data and procedures.Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility on the job.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with titration, reverse osmosis, quality control, and quality assurance is a plus.Proven ability to work with wet chemistry techniques.Work Environment

The work schedule may include shifts, including night shifts and weekends. The lab may run staggered and rotating shifts to cover all necessary experiments. The work environment requires maintaining cleanliness and proper handling of lab equipment and chemicals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
