Job Description
Perform laboratory preparation activities and analyses to provide accurate technical information to necessary personnel. Demonstrate competency on all test methods, lab SOPs, and instrument calibrations to a level sufficient to perform all assigned work and to be able to train others. Assist lab technicians in entering sample and test data into LIMS system to ensure laboratory is meeting published customer service standards. Maintain stock of lab materials. Using established methods and procedures, prepare samples for analysis. Assist in performing standard mathematical calculations in LIMS. Assist in maintenance of records, analyses as required, routine maintenance of lab equipment, preparation of petri dishes and supplies. Drive to procure samples when needed and clean and sterilize equipment.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and follow laboratory management system policies and procedures, as well as laboratory safety policies and procedures.Receive and prepare incoming samples for analysis and laboratory supplies and equipment.Receive laboratory supplies and equipment; distribute to laboratory staff members.Collect, clean, and distribute glassware for laboratory staff.Perform daily temperature verification of refrigerators, freezers, and other lab equipment.Maintain stock of supplies; communicate needs to purchasing agent.Accurately input sample information and testing requirements into LIMS.Assist laboratory staff with extraction, digestion, and other sample preparation for complex analyses.Follow written procedures to perform analytical testing on laboratory samples.Maintain accurate records of all test work in laboratory notebooks; input and extract information to worksheets and instrument computers.Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment.Maintain a clean work area.Essential SkillsStrong organizational skills for managing inventory of shelf-life samples at the warehouse.Attention to detail for labeling samples.Strong multi-tasking skills for managing several samples at a time.Competence in document control.Excel data entry skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word.Experience in warehouse picking.Basic knowledge of chemistry and inspection.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.Previous lab experience preferred.Ability to understand and perform test methods and technical procedures.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures.Sound communication and presentation skills.Work Environment
Work in a lab environment which includes standing for up to 8 hours a day, use of laboratory equipment such as ovens, balances, furnaces, blenders, and centrifuges. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, push/pull laboratory carts, work with solvents/acids/bases in fume hoods, and work in cold rooms/freezers. The Omaha office is the hub for the largest workforce, housing key departments like Research & Development, IT, Human Resources, and Supply Chain. The facility helps produce popular brands and offers samples to take home. The office's proximity to the vibrant Old Market entertainment district and the revitalized riverfront adds to the appeal, making it a great place to balance work and life.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
