Job Description
This person will perform a full range of tasks related to laboratory testing, analysis, and equipment calibration.
ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory testing on oil samples derived from the refinery, including wet chemistry tests such as viscosity, titrations, colorimeter, ash testing (burning oil), octant analysis, water-soluble tests, and density measurements.Conduct ICP, XRF, and GC-ECD testing.Maintain, understand, and use laboratory equipment according to laboratory policy.Perform laboratory cleaning, stocking, and chemical waste handling.Identify and procure components needed for maintenance support and repairs on laboratory equipment.Prepare equipment for cleaning and mechanical repairs, maintaining all necessary records.Perform regular maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is operating efficiently.Evaluate laboratory procedures to ensure safe working conditions.Review reports on oil samples, noting variations or trends in finished products.Complete data entry and filing on a daily basis.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in STEMCompletion of chemistry courseworkAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with laboratory testing and equipmentStrong attention to detail and analytical skillsWork Environment
This is a lab environment where samples from the refinery are tested. There is no need to go outside to retrieve samples. The lab handles used oil and refines it for reuse, as well as some wastewater testing. There are strong smells from the oil, so sensitivity to such scents may be a consideration. The lab is a close-knit team with a flexible manager who cares about professional development. Benefits include free lunch on Wednesdays, birthday and work anniversary gifts, and holiday gifts. The shift is 1st shift, working 4 days a week from 4am to 2pm, with alternating weeks of Tuesday to Friday and Wednesday to Saturday. PPE, including lab coat, fire-resistant pants, shirts, and safety boots, will be provided.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
