Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and running laboratory experiments, analyzing test specimens, and performing various tasks related to materials selection and corrosion testing and analysis. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of chemistry.

ResponsibilitiesSet up and run laboratory experimentsAnalyze test specimensPerform tasks on projects related to materials selection and corrosion testing and analysis, including experimental setup, data collection, and data reportingInspect, test, repair, and install equipmentDevelop the capability of working independently on project activities while performing work under the supervision of the project investigatorAssist more experienced technicians, technologists, and professionals on technical assignmentsFollow the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance program on projectsRecord research activities performed in a lab bookPerform other duties as assigned, such as solution preparation, cleaning test cells, moving items throughout the lab, and calibrating equipment following prescribed proceduresEssential SkillsExperience or knowledge in chemistry (from degree or work experience)Strong mechanical aptitude (ability to troubleshoot and utilize tools)Experience in a lab environmentKnowledge of chemical engineering and chemical testingAbility to perform materials testingAdditional Skills & QualificationsTechnical expertise in a relevant fieldAbility to assist more experienced professionals on technical assignmentsWork Environment

The position is based in a lab setting with 12 other technicians. Standard working hours are from 8am to 5pm, with flexible start times between 7am and 9am. Overtime is very common and can be expected on a regular basis. The initial contract duration is 6-12 months, with the potential to convert to a direct position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
