Job Description
The primary role of the Lab Technician II is to work in a highly collaborative environment providing lab support to Research Associates and Scientists. The Lab Technician II independently maintains the laboratory, including supplies and maintenance of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, including coordination and communication with vendors.Keep the laboratory clean and organized, assisting with organizational initiatives and monthly lab cleanups.Develop routine maintenance schedules and coordinate with staff for appropriate timing of annual/biannual maintenance by the Facilities team or external vendors.Schedule maintenance with vendors or Facilities.Manage maintenance contracts with vendors, submitting through the Contract Management System.Ensure supply availability with increasing understanding of usage, coordinating with internal teams to ensure supplies are available when needed.Prepare solutions and buffers as needed and manage waste and waste disposal for laboratory equipment.Perform daily equipment calibration as required, including pH and conductivity probes.Clean AKTA equipment and perform system storage as needed.Manage freezers and freezer inventory.Assist laboratory staff with various other laboratory management tasks and preparation for experiments.Essential SkillsExperience in a laboratory role or a related position for 1-3 years.High School diploma, minimum; Associates or Bachelors Degree desirable.Understanding of basic biochemistry principles, such as buffer and solution preparation.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform basic tasks in a laboratory environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBuffer Preparation Skills: Chemical Knowledge, pH Measurement, Solution Preparation, Sterilization Techniques, Buffer Capacity Testing.Core Bio Chemistry Laboratory Skills: Spectrophotometry, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, Microscopy, Cleaning AKTA equipment, Lab Notebook Maintenance, Lab Safety Protocols, Regulatory Compliance.Organizational/Training Skills: Lean Six Sigma.1+ years of relevant experience.May have exposure to hazardous materials such as concentrated acids and bases.Work Environment
The individual will interact primarily with the Purification Development laboratory staff (RA and Scientist level) in Bothell in a technical support role. There may be limited interactions with other groups sharing the Bothell lab space (SPF and Cell Culture groups). This is an individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00
