Job Description

As a Lab Technician specializing in Microbiology, you will be responsible for conducting environmental monitoring, water sampling, water bioburden testing, in-process bioburden testing, and bacterial endotoxin testing (BET). You will gather necessary supplies and materials, collect water samples aseptically from the manufacturing area, and process them in the lab. This role supports a wide range of biological, chemical, or physical analyses on pharmaceutical products through all stages of the manufacturing process, from incoming raw materials to finished goods, and may include environmental monitoring programs.

ResponsibilitiesPerform environmental monitoring, critical utility sampling, endotoxin testing, and bioburden testing for raw materials and in-process samples.Conduct microbial identification and final product sterility testing.Support laboratory operations through sample control, equipment metrology, data reconciliation/archiving, and computerized system programming and support.Handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with supervisors and peers.Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including autoclaves, incubators, and analytical equipment.Read and follow detailed written instructions and have good verbal and written communication skills.Adhere to basic chemical and biological safety procedures.Essential Skills6+ months experience within a microbiology testing laboratory.Experience with environmental monitoring, water sampling, bioburden testing, BET (Bacterial Endotoxins Test), and/or in-process testing.AS or BS Degree in Biology or Microbiology.Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of most laboratory equipment including autoclaves, incubators, and analytical equipment.Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious work experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry would be a plus.Experience with particle counters, climate monitoring, or microbial air samples would be a plus.Open to entry-level candidates with academic lab experience.Ability to work weekends when needed.Ability to identify when proper practices/procedures are not performed.Follow SOPs and generate results.Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 2 PM to 10:20 PM. The role requires going into the manufacturing area daily and gowning 1-3 times during the day. Samples are collected in the manufacturing area, and you will change into scrubs and wear a smock, bonnet, safety glasses, and shoe covers. Some areas require full gowning with only eyes showing under goggles. This is a full clean room environment where no makeup, jewelry, or nails are allowed. The facility is state-of-the-art with over 1,100 employees, comprising three manufacturing buildings, multiple laboratories, a warehouse, and a two-story commons building with a full-service cafeteria, coffee bar, fitness center, and patio. The company manufactures plasma-derived therapies for patients with rare and complex chronic diseases.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
