Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lab Technologist - Per Diem.
In this role, the successful candidate Performs established clinical laboratory tests and procedures Interprets and reports as accurately as possible to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment Duties may include blood collection clerical tasks answering telephone inquiries using data processing equipment and all other duties as required in the assigned section
Job Responsibilities:
Trained to recognize potential hazards in the workplace and proper procedures for handling hazardous substances Those working in the Histology Department are trained in additional procedures for disposal of hazardous wasteFollows established procedures to perform routine and special analyses Documents any deviation from established procedure with supervisor s approvalChecks that an adequate supply of materials is available to complete testing Notify the supervisor designee or laboratory manager when supplies run lowChecks instruments for proper functioning and calibration and performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as specified in the section procedure manuals Documents instrument checks problems and resolutionsInforms the supervisor or designee of any unusual or unexpected test results after verificationPrepares and reviews test reports for accuracy of results before reporting to clinicians or other authorized personnelMaintains a neat and efficient work area by cleaning equipment and instruments and replenishing supplies Rotate stock using older reagents firstAccepts direction and changes in assignment willinglyCompletes tasks independently within appropriate time frame and in order of priorityReports all Critical/Alert Values to the supervisor or designee immediately after verification and with the supervisor s or designee s approval calls the results to the appropriate clinician or nurseMaintains permanent records of tests standards controls results dates and patients names for reference and statistical purposes Documents anything unusual in any of these categoriesAssesses patient s ability to communicate in English and assists in the provision of an interpreter as neededIncorporates patient s cultural background and values in methods of communication and service provisionIncorporates patient s cultural background and values to involve family members as needed or assess the use of alternative medicinePerforms other related duties as assigned or requestedMinimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist Bachelor s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor s Degree in the major of biology chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university One year experience in a clinical laboratory completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable NYS License 1 year completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable Effective Interpersonal and Communication skills required.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45.00 - $45.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
