The phlebotomist/lab assistant performs the collection, processing and preparation of blood, body fluids and other laboratory samples for testing and analysis. They interact with patients, nurses, doctors and other medical personnel. As a member of the laboratory team, they are the first source for excellent customer service in the laboratory. They utilize computers and general office organizational skills in performing their duties.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.Phlebotomy training required - certification preferred.Computer keyboard entry experience.Ability to speak, read and write English.Minimum of one year experience preferred.Essential Job Functions
Specimen collection and labeling.Instructs patients about proper sample collection.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide care to all patient age groups.Specimen processing.Uses the Laboratory Information System to obtain and record data and issue resultsMaintains equipment in proper working order.Follows and maintains competency on all standard operating procedures.Performs chain of custody collections.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
