Labor and Employment Attorney
Description Established California law firm is seeking a Labor and Employment Attorney to join their team. As part of the labor and employment team, you will primarily be tasked with conducting workplace investigations, handling employment litigation, and providing advice and counsel duties. This role is integral to maintaining our firm's compliance with California Labor Law and other relevant employment laws. Responsibilities: • Conduct detailed investigations into workplace incidents and disputes • Handle a variety of employment litigation cases, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and whistleblower claims • Provide legal advice and counsel on matters related to FLSA and wage and hour claims, including class and collective action lawsuits • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda with a keen eye for detail and accuracy • Take and defend depositions in a professional and thorough manner • Manage discovery-related activities in an organized and timely fashion • Assist in ADA/FEHA compliance and disability accommodation matters • Participate in labor negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations as needed • Handle administrative hearings and appeals with precision and diligence • Utilize skills in arbitration and 'Conduct Investigations' to ensure fair and legal workplace practices. Requirements • Must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of California • Proficiency in California Labor Law is a must • Experience in Employment Law, specifically representing employers • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal investigations • Proven experience in arbitration and dispute resolution • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • High level of professionalism and ethical standards • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to advise clients on the best course of action • Must maintain client confidentiality and uphold the attorney-client privilege • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on changes in labor and employment laws.
