Job SummaryAct as the centralized resource for Black & Veatch Construction, Inc. (BVCI) Labor Relations team. Perform research duties for the team and collaborate with the Director of Labor Relations to produce labor surveys for industrial construction projects and support the overall labor relations function for BVCI. Correspond directly with construction industry Local Unions and Building & Construction Trades Council leadership to gather information and develop survey reports for the team.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommunicate regularly with Local Union Hall representatives and Building & Construction Trades Council leadership for the collection, development, and presentation of union labor rates and regional labor market data to BVCI proposal team for locations of potential construction projects. Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word at an advanced level to examine labor demand and labor availability and produce reports with data to highlight labor availability, any shortfalls and evaluate possible methods for mitigating labor shortages. Management of all Labor Relations Information regarding current and past labor surveys, labor agreements and relevant information pertaining to the Building Trades construction industry projects. Advises on Local Union labor wage and fringe fund rates, prevailing wage rates, labor agreements including contract terms, conditions, restrictions and any regional or local practices or preferences. In partnership with the Director of Labor Relations, communicates frequently and meets regularly with the Local Union and Building & Construction Trades Council leadership regarding labor trends and wage rates. Team oriented individual who works directly with the Director of Labor Relations or assigned designee and labor relations team. Attends national organization conferences as a BVCI representative. Leads project labor management meetings. Representing management in union/labor relations including the negotiation, interpretation, and administration of collective bargaining agreements. Investigating and resolving complaints, grievances, and disputes. May be required to travel from time to time to assist with other labor issues within the company Execute union labor surveys function for BVCI, obtain, analyze, and configure data for labor surveys that will provide accurate representation and assessment of any labor availability risks in performing a potential construction project. Management Responsibilities Individual ContributorSupervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.Preferred Qualifications 4-year college degree preferred. Advanced Microsoft Office skills preferred. Communication skills needed, Negotiation experience, Experience dealing with Unions, Experience with Union Contracts, Solid writing skills. This person must have the ability to deal with multiple personalities of differing prefessional levels and to handle difficult interpersonal situations. Understanding of construction. Minimum Qualifications 7+ years relevant experience; Industrial construction experience with NABTU and UBC building and construction trades unions preferred; Similar experience dealing with labor agreements, local union halls, and/or large teams of directly hired union craft preferred. Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas. See and hear naturally or with correction. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. Requires repetitive movement. May require work above 5 feet in height. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
