Cenovus is seeking a Labor Relations Specialist for our Lima Refinery in Ohio to support all aspects of labor relations within the facility and the broader organization. This role focuses on minimizing legal risks, encouraging a positive labor culture, and mentoring leaders within both the business and union. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor relations, demonstrate integrity and professionalism, and possess excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. What you’ll do:Provide subject matter expertise and support to unionized locations, handling questions and interpreting contracts to resolve Union/Management work-related issues.Provide advice and support on employee and labor relations matters, including employee field, grievances, and contract interpretation.Foster a positive and constructive relationship between the Company and the Union.Support collective bargaining by partnering with leadership to develop strategies, identify objectives, and assist with negotiations, including training and second-chair support.Maintain labor relations files, including union/management meeting minutes, grievances, arbitrations, and other related documentation.Investigate harassment, discrimination, and EEO complaints, making recommendations and providing support to all parties involved.Who you are:Legally authorized to work in the US.Bachelor's degree in human resources, labor relations, industrial relations, business administration, or a related field is required. Relevant experience will also be considered in lieu of educational requirements.12+ years of total experience, with a portion of that in labor relations, employee relations, or human resources management. The rest of the experience can be from other relevant fields, demonstrating transferable skills such as leadership, communication, and conflict resolution.In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws, including the NLRA, FLSA, EEO, and OSHA regulations.Proven negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills, with experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements and resolving workplace disputes.Demonstrated ability to analyze labor relations issues, develop actionable solutions, and implement strategies that align with organizational goals.We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
