Job Description
As a member of the Human Resources Group, you will lead assigned business functions in day-to-day HR and labor relations activities. You will provide direction and leadership that aligns and supports our objectives, mission, and culture. You will work strategically with assigned functional business leaders to improve working relationships, develop and enforce contractual terms and agreements, build engagement, increase output, attract and retain talent, and collaborate with Centers of Excellence relative to strategic workforce planning.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the HRLR Site Director in driving company culture, promoting positive employee experiences, and improving employee engagementPromote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreementsNegotiate and implement local and national agreementsParticipate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activitiesEnsure adherence to the Grievance ProcedureProvide HR leadership for the site (e.g., talent planning, performance management, compensation planning, recruiting, and selection)Ensure compliance with policy and support investigations of employee concernsManage hourly, contract, and salaried employment administrationSupport Marion Business Plan DeploymentSupport Organizational Key Initiatives and Goals for HR and LRCounsel management in the interpretation of agreements and act as management representative in dealing with the unionExercise independent judgment within general policies and procedures established by agreementsAdvise management and other plant personnel on matters related to Union-Management relationshipsMaintain accurate records pertinent to Labor Relations (e.g., grievance filing, investigations, local agreements and practices, meeting minutes)Play a principal role in local negotiations, partnering with operations to identify strategic initiatives that drive competitiveness while focusing on the employee experienceShare regular Labor Relations updates – Shop Committee grievance resolution meetingCoordinate the activities of various departments involved in resolving employee grievancesOrganize and develop cases relative to Management’s position within the grievance procedure (e.g., write grievance responses, identify supporting documentation, policies)Conduct special investigations as neededCoordinate with plant and unit management on matters concerning hourly personnelProvide guidance and resolution to conflictsAdminister shop rules when appropriateProvide oversight on cultural trends relative to grievances and take a proactive approach in addressing action plansEnsure the proper manpower for the plant is maintained and assigned; actively monitor attrition, retention, and forecasting utilizing data analytics to drive decisionsAdminister hourly hiring, contractual transfer provisions, and separations for permanent, temporary, and part-time employmentAdvise Management, Union, and hourly employees on seniority issuesEssential SkillsEmployee relationsHuman resourcesEqual Employment Opportunity lawExperience in labor relationsNegotiation skillsConflict resolutionPolicy complianceGrievance procedure adherenceData analytics for workforce planningAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of medical claim processesExperience in a manufacturing environmentWork Environment
Typical work hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, but availability for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts is required. You may need to work outside these hours based on work needs.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
