Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Laboratory Analyst to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:
Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy Taking Responsibility and being Accountable Committing to Zero Harm Cultivating strong and meaningful PartnershipsReporting to the Supervisor - Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of ensuring maintenance of multi fleet through condition monitoring of lubricant by performing technical tasks and operating specialized equipment’s with the specific outlines in the duties and ensuring these are completed in a timely manner. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Sample Racking and Batching: Clustering samples (hydrocarbons) and preparing them for analysis or testing. Conducting Experiments: Performing routine tests under the guidance of work instructions using specialized equipment. Data Collection and Analysis: Recording data from experiments or tests, analyzing results, and maintaining detailed records. Maintenance of Equipment: Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning. Quality Control: Ensuring that all procedures are followed in accordance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines, often assisting in quality control or assurance processes. Testing lubricant samples for viscosity, density, and other physical properties. Analyzing elemental and chemical composition using techniques like spectroscopy (e.g., FTIR, GC-MS). Conducting tribological tests (friction, wear, and corrosion) to evaluate lubricant performance. Verifying compliance with industry standards (e.g., API, ASTM, ISO). Chemical/Material Handling: Properly handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals or materials used during experiments, in accordance with safety protocols. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring a safe working environment by following lab safety protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear, and ensuring the laboratory meets regulatory standards.To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade Twelve School Certificate Diploma in Laboratory Science from a recognized Learning Institution. Must be computer literate with intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Have excellent communication skills in the English language. Desirable experience of at least 2 years in use of Inductive Coupled Plasma, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer and ISO cleanliness. Must have adequate knowledge in oil analysis and condition monitoring.What We Can Offer You:
