EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Pineville, NC. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples (air, water and bulk materials) for fungus and bacteria using optical and phase contract microscopy 
Maintaining quality control records as needed and some clerical work may be involved for data entry 
Perform quality assurance/quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control  
Maintain and trouble shoot equipment and laboratory clean up 

Requirements:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry a plus
Comfortable working with microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds and able to adhere to sterile technique and good laboratory practices
Experience with Fungi ID a plus 
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Good computer skills are important for data entry tasks
Attention to detail and be willing to learn analytical skills
Able to work independently and within a team environment
Work under strict timelines in order to meet our clients' deadlines
Strong communication skills and comfortable with client interaction
Cross training in other laboratory disciplines as needed to meet business demands

Available Shift: 
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
