Element has an upcoming opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. The Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) prepares and analyzes Environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Element Materials Technology Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).This position can be physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in GC-MS, LC-MS, Wet Chemistry, and High Resolution Preparation and Analysis
Responsibilities Preparation of samples using standard techniquesPerforming chemical analysis using standard techniquesEvaluation and quantification of dataRecording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisorPerforming routine instrument maintenanceCompetency on complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided)Responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate.Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)Understands and utilizes backlog reports to manage personal workload.Works under close supervision using routine and standard methodsResponsible for general housekeeping in work areaProficient, with IDOCs, for a minimum for 50% of methods carried out in the departmentResponsible for performing job functions in compliance with ELEMENT MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY environmental, health and safety and quality assurance standardsDemonstrates and promotes the company vision Skills / Qualifications BS or BA in chemistry or related field. 3 -5 years laboratory experience may substitute for degreeEPA method D1633, 537.1 or 533 experience would be REQUIREDLaboratory experience helpfulPrevious production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)Perform calculations with calculator / mathematical formulasComplete work within time and quality constraintsTeam participation and meeting management skillsDemonstrate excellent time management and organizational skillsDemonstrate good problem solving skillsWork independently following written or verbal instructionsCooperate and coordinate both orally and in writingParticipation in teamwork and meetingsReading, writing and speaking skillsFollow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines:GC/GC-MS/LC-MS/Wet Chemistry/High Resolution Preparation and Analysis
