Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports the laboratory by performing routine glassware washing and learning the appropriate handling of broken glassThe head of the retain and decontamination process within the lab- autoclaving operations, the disposal of laboratory waste, laboratory sanitationPerforms routine cleaning and quality checks for equipmentPerforms routine cleaning of work areasMaintains inventory levels and helps to stock suppliesLearns how to document work and maintain laboratory recordsLearns to plan for assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively schedule multiple assignmentsContributes to a cohesive team environment.Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environmentPicking up samples from client sitesPerforms other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required. 

Minimum High School Diploma or EquivalentExpected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area.Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time.Work requires lifting of weights of up to 40 lbs.Work requires a driver’s licenseOvertime, weekend and holiday work as required. May include second shift work.  Will be exposed to potential food allergens.
