Full Time / 6a-4:30p (7on/7off)
The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the pre-analytical process of all laboratory specimens including but not limited to blood, urine, pathology, human tissue, clinical specimens, body fluids and cultures. Performs WAIVED testing with little or no supervision as well as centrifugation and loading specimens onto the instruments. Receives and processes specimens brought into the laboratory by other departments as well as registering specimens brought in by home health and other outside entities. Monitors work flow by assisting other lab personnel in keeping the computer pending list both collected and to be collected current and up-to-date to ensure timely reporting of results. Assists in maintenance and calibration of equipment as needed as well as daily QC necessary before patient results are performed.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience PREFERRED : Experience performing testing in an acute-care hospital setting or physician office setting.
Licenses/Certificates PREFERRED: Lab Assistant certificate preferred
