Laboratory Assistant - Weekend Days

Job Summary Obtains blood specimens (on or off site) following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements. Obtains specimens (on or off site) requiring special collection procedures following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements. Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory. Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories. Provides assistance to clients. Picks up and delivers specimens / reports to clients (may use company car) and acts as liaison between the client and the laboratory. Assists with vehicle maintenance and promotes safe driving. Diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and Therapeutic INR QC and testing procedures. Performs testing procedures as indicated by section. Qualifications Education High school education or equivalent. Requires some knowledge of medical terminology. Experience 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure/Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
