The Department of Biology at Texas A&M University is seeking a Laboratory Attendant to keep our lab running smoothly and efficiently! In this role, you will be supporting our research labs with essential services such as glassware preparation and autoclaving. Join us and become an integral part of our team.
Opportunities to Contribute
+ Receive and process soiled glassware and plasticware. Remove tape and labels, wash, cover with foil, and autoclave. Place items in the drying oven as needed to ensure everything is spotless and ready for use.
+ Sterilize media, discarded cultures, and contaminated utensils at the appropriate temperatures and pressures to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
+ Wash pipets with the pipet washer, then autoclave and dry.
+ Assist with filling tip boxes and preparing and distributing fly food to keep our experiments running smoothly.
+ Ensure all cleaned glassware and plasticware are distributed to the correct laboratories, keeping our lab organized and efficient.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience
+ One year in custodial or lower-level laboratory work
A well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
+ Knowledge of principles of sterile techniques; use of autoclaves
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience
