Your Day-to-Day:
As an Engineering Intern, you will:
Design and conduct materials testing and characterization in a laboratory setting, using reactor simulation loops or apparatuses that evaluate post-nuclear accident chemical processes. Analyze test data to gain new insights, support patent applications, and direct proposals. Assist in the development of specialized tooling for surface sampling. Collaborate with a global team of engineers, scientists, and technicians. Champion a strong nuclear safety culture, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Who You Are:
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
A basic understanding of chemistry and physics relevant to materials science. A hands-on approach and willingness to work in a laboratory environment. Experience or coursework related to sample preparation, metallography, and microstructural characterization (e.g., XRD, SEM, FIB, TEM) is a plus. A passion for innovation and problem-solving, with a desire to invent and improve technologies.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Laboratory experience is desired, particularly in: Materials characterization techniques. Design and development of testing equipment. Programming skills, especially in LabVIEW.
