Job Summary
Responsibilities
Manages the day-to-day activities and the overall workflow of projects. Leads in lab maintenance, establishing lab safety protocols, and coordinating project and lab personnel schedules
Helps monitor compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
Utilizes research methods requiring a high degree of proficiency to achieve established research objectives. Evaluates existing methods and objectives and investigates, develops, and implements solutions to problems.
Organizes data into a professional format, performs data reconstruction and analysis, summarizes results, and presents data to PI. Effectively communicates, coordinates, and troubleshoots team-based research efforts through participation in laboratory and research meetings. May collaborate with clinical and basic scientists in other labs. Represents the PI as needed.
Helps train research technicians, students and post-doctoral fellows.
Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design.
Solves complex problems relating to the administration of projects, including planning new procedures, adapting existing procedures to the needs of the project, and making significant contributions to methodology.
Guides data collection, evaluation and analysis. Designs and manages databases. Writes reports, articles and manuscripts.
Presents research findings at meetings and conferences, as well as to funding agencies. Conducts literature reviews. Develop and maintain liaisons and effective working relations with groups and individuals, agencies, and the public to encourage cooperative management strategies or to develop information and interpret findings.
Performs other related work as needed.

Skilled in the bioinformatics analysis of large genomic, metagenomic and metatranscriptomic datasets.
Advanced knowledge in relevant scientific field, research techniques, scientific applications and equipment.
