About the role
The Laboratory Manager role oversees the day-to-day executing of all the analysis needed for Treasury’s North Coast Winery Network, ensuring the laboratory staff executes tasks in a safe and efficient manner with accuracy, and works to continuously improve workflow, equipment, and processes while monitoring and adhering to the budget.
Laboratory Operation:
+ Develop and maintain laboratory methods, SOP’s, and the quality assurance program (HAACP).
+ Participate in any site audits and inspections as appropriate.
+ Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained through regularly scheduled PM’s.
+ Able to troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and methodology to resolve analytical inconsistencies and achieve accurate results for the winemaking team.
+ Responsible for optimizing and maintaining the laboratory schedule to meet all analysis needs of the North Coast Winery sites.
+ Seek out workflow and process changes to continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of reported data.
+ Proficient user of JDE, Kronos, VinoEZ, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other programs.
+ Transition of new equipment and technologies from research phase to production use.
+ Maintenance of laboratory results via spreadsheets
+ Supervise and perform all wet chemistry, automated, and advanced analysis, as well as and other laboratory tasks when needed.
Safety:
+ Incident Reporting
+ Report all relevant safety incidents as outlined by TW HSE team
+ Lead by example and demonstrate safety as a key value.
People Management:
+ Responsible for building and training a cross functional team.
+ Foster an environment of trust, fairness, and transparency while upholding established TWE guidelines and policies.
+ Proactively address performance or disciplinary concerns through clear expectation setting.
+ Conduct 1-1’s with direct reports to support career development, ongoing feedback, and ensure communication s are reaching the intended audience.
+ Lead daily communications to ensure necessary production and people information are cascaded.
+ Partner with HR to ensure the team is compliant with necessary training and regulations.
+ Leverage existing TWE training programs to build and further develop capability as a manager.
Financial Responsibility:
+ The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the overall budget of the St Helena laboratory.
About You
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
+ BS Degree in Chemistry or closely related scientific field. Master’s Degree a plus.
+ 3-5 years’ experience working in an analytical laboratory, preferably in food or beverage.
+ Prior supervisory experience.
+ Understanding of wine analysis and quality control systems.
+ Proficient user of JDE, Kronos, VinoEZ, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
+ Wine experience preferred.
+ Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to adapt within a changing work environment.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $70,000 to $87,000 per year and other benefits. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of our St Helena location. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
