Laboratory Manager - Per Diem - Days Department: CLINICAL LABORATORY Job Summary The Laboratory Manager provides leadership to and manages the day to day operations for the laboratory. Responsible for all elements of the laboratory operations. Core Job Responsibilities + Monitor the performance of the staff. Oversees workload distribution and scheduling of the office and areas of the lab. + Maintain current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for areas of responsibility + Assist with developing and sustaining lab budgets and supply chains. Work with vendors, purchasing department and other lab leaders to negotiate contracts for laboratory equipment and supplies + Ensure the labs function efficiently and according to the NYSDOH, CLIA, CLEP and additional regulating body standards and laws and provides a high level of quality laboratory services in a timely manner to meet the needs of providers, patients and clients/partners + Handle operational needs and assignments which may include quality assurance, reporting requirements, inventory control and ordering, and the integration of lab services with other departments + In conjunction with the Lab Outreach team, direct and manage the clinical services provided to current and potential new clients + Ensure staff have the orientation, training and resources to perform their roles. + Promotes and role models a culture of service excellence, information sharing and customer service within their functional area. + Follow all organization’s policies and procedures including but not limited to those of infection control, privacy, attendance, safety, mission, vision and values. + In partnership with Laboratory leadership and Human Resources, provide input to or makes recommendations on employee hires, performance reviews, transfers, promotions, salary changes, disciplinary actions, terminations and similar actions. Resolve grievances and other staff problems in a fair, timely and consistent manner also in partnership with HR. + Perform other duties as required. Education/Experience Requirements REQUIRED: + Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience + 6 years of lab experience. + One year of supervisor or management experience. + Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to stay focused and on task while working independently. PREFERRED: + MS, Medical Laboratory Science, business or healthcare related degree. + Three years of supervisory or management experience. Licensure/Certification Requirements REQUIRED: + License or certification is required by law. PREFERRED: + ASCP certification.
