Job Summary
Develops strategic plans for educational programs provided and facilitated by Carolinas Simulation Center to meet the needs of the System and partners. Responsible for, and committed to, providing a single point of entry for hands-on surgical education simulation and training requests throughout the System. Responsible for the management, leadership, and supervision of assigned resources at the Skills Center as well as daily operations and coordination of all education, training and research and development courses.
Essential Functions
Identifies and maintains policies and procedures to facilitate program operations for the department and ensures relevant policies and procedures are followed by teammates
Directs the design, implementation, and evaluation for the strategic plan of operations for Carolinas Simulation Center which includes collaboration with faculty, community physicians, and industry to develop effective methods of post-graduate surgical education and training.
Analyzes status of overall Skills Center budget. Recommends revisions/actions as appropriate.
Establishes and directs the maintenance of billing systems for revenue for the department with a focus on maintaining fair market value.
Processes and maintains all Master Education Service Agreements and Statements of Work for Skills Center and associated industry partners.
Establishes and maintains relationships with physicians, administrators, industry partners and program participants to enrich education and training experiences.
Provides excellent customer service in a positive and professional manner to both internal and external customers.
Schedules, coordinates, and supervises all education, training, and R&D courses held at Skills Center and associated conference rooms, as well as all ancillary staff (ie: radiology tech, scrub tech, environmental tech) as needed for specific courses.
Maintains inventory of all skills center equipment and supplies. Ensures that all equipment and instrumentation works properly and is consistently ready for use. Evaluates any new equipment or supplies prior to purchase.
Physical Requirements
Works in an office, classroom, and/or laboratory setting. Sight, hearing, and speech capabilities sufficient to communicate well with individuals and groups. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Position requires long periods of standing, walking, and sitting, including lifting of moderate to heavy equipment and supplies. Includes travel to system facilities and occational national travel to facilitate national conferences and pursue professional education opportunities. This position also works with biohazardous materials, power equipment, and compressed gas and includes the responsibility for working in a safe manner. Some weekend work may be required.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in related field preferred. Fundamental knowledge of management principles and practices, adult learning, organizational strategies, laboratory safety and a strong understanding of sterile technique and laboratory protocols is desired. Three years experience working in a medical education setting required.
