Laboratory Operations Lead

We invite you to do the same in this role:   Laboratory Operations Lead   This Is What You’ll Do:     Develop and maintain the schedule for all preventive maintenance and guidelines for alllaboratory and plasma storage equipment, freezers, refrigerators, and temperature monitored areas.  Qualify to act as a Designated Trainer. Train technical and non-technical staff on procedure to be followed when performing testing, scheduled maintenance, and applicable lab equipment. Ensure training completion and competency prior to staff performing tasks independently. Provide technical support for equipment throughout the laboratory and plasma storage facility, including scheduled and unscheduled repair within the scope of the service agreement and warranty requirements of the equipment, maintaining parts inventories, and performing scheduled tasks completely, accurately and in a timely manner. Provide on call coverage for the validated, temperature-monitored areas, per rotational schedule along with other cross-trained individuals Prepare documentation and maintain records pertaining to all repairs, replacement parts, calibrations and modifications of biomedical equipment and any equipment requiring documented maintenance. Identify aging and obsolete equipment to supervisor in a timely manner at to recommend replacement prior to any business interruption. Coordinate the work performed by service contractors and vendors to include maintenance, calibration, and installation and to verify the documentation of the work performed is accurate and complete.  Coordinate and/or participate in requests for special projects, such as new equipment acquisition, purchase-planning, development of bid specifications, analysis of vendor proposals, installation planning, acceptance testing, renovations, equipment upgrades and equipment disposal. Review equipment safety alerts and recall notices and take appropriate actions to ensure the affected equipment is tested or removed from service, where appropriate. Lead the development of a departmental training plan for equipment maintenance an calibration.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, ability to provide direction to others, strong attention to detail. Ability to multitask between competing projects/deliverables. Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision while able to take direction. Able to be flexible to changing priorities. Understands the importance of mentoring and coaching employees. Shows enthusiasm for helping others improve and/or develop new skills.

This Is What It Takes:

Ability to work diverse shifts, overtime hours and on-call as required. Ability to maneuver in tight workspaces, which include those close to the floor, walls or other pieces of equipment. Ability to complete documentation in a clear and accurate manner. Ability to apply knowledge of validation principles and compliance standards. Understanding of computerized systems and IT change management. Ability to work independently assuming leading roles. Ability to facilitate meetings and execute training presentations with peers, managers, and directors.

Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution as required by CLIA for testing samples.

Two years’ experience performing clinical laboratory testing OR experience in performing repair and maintenance of validated medical/clinical equipment.
