Laboratory Research Technician

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Performs synthetic chemistry to answer biological questions. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Contributes significantly to preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals. One year of synthetic experience in the lab is preferred. Undergraduate research experience is acceptable for this position.


Job Duties:

Significantly contributes to synthetic routes to prepare organic compounds for biological experiments including animal studies. Analyze organic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed. Maintains lab and chemical inventory and assists with ordering.Prepares data, graphs, tables, and charts to document experimental results for publication and grant applicationsKeeps detailed, accurate, and timely lab notebooks and log books.Writes technical papers or reports or prepares standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, or tests.
