The lab of Dr. Jason Becker is part of the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. The lab studies molecular mechanisms regulating cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and sudden death. The candidate will perform research work in a highly collaborative environment and will have the opportunity to assist with manuscript preparation. The candidate will work with mouse models and perform cell culture experiments. Molecular biology and/or biochemistry experience preferred. There are opportunities for independent research projects for interested candidates.
Job Duties:
1. assisting with mouse colony maintenance
2. murine cardiovascular phenotyping
3. tissue immunohistochemistry
4. protein biochemistry including immunoblotting
5. molecular biology assays including PCR
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
