Laboratory Research Technician II

The Department of Neurology is seeking a research technician who will support exciting research projects at the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative diseases. The projects within this laboratory focus on identifying pathogenic mechanisms and potential therapeutic pathways in Parkinson’s disease. The research technician will work closely with other members of the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative diseases. Primary responsibilities will include performing basic mammalian cell culture techniques, and tissue processing and immunostaining, confocal microscopy. Perform general laboratory duties, such as making buffers and media. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, possess attention to detail, work well in teams and have excellent organizational skills. A bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences or related discipline is preferred. Previous experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques is a plus but not required.
